Walk Tall
This is my first post to bearing posture. What I hope to do with this blog is somewhat selfish. Writing is my therapy, and recognizing stress seems to be my part-time job. I write to heal. I write to throw a message into the universe because I have learned - after two agonizing years of suffering through a divorce - that the thoughts we think are sometimes not so good for us. But with this blog, I have the opportunity to discern, and to get through the muck to what really matters. It takes discipline to destroy negative thoughts, to destroy stress, to dispel anger, and to get beyond drama. But after I have written a message about courage, grace or integrity, I hear it. My life has improved with every tap on this keyboard.
Bearing posture is about holding steady, with your feet planted deeply in the ground when the hurricanes come at you. Perhaps my thoughts will reach someone, and perhaps I’ll help another person stand tall. The only real message I have today is about courage.
When the going gets tough economically, emotionally or even mentally, there is an opportunity hidden somewhere inside the details of the stress. There is always an opportunity. Even in the darkness of swarming thoughts, there is an opportunity for light. It takes some time to come this understanding and it takes quite a bit of suffering before the opportunity reveals itself. But in terms of getting through the muck, one need only remember a couple things. First, we are all free to choose our desires and our dreams. We are free to do anything we want. Of course, the decisions may affect others - but I think that if you make a decision to do something, you have to be able to look yourself in the eye and like who you are. So any decisions should be made with courage. If you’re going to walk, walk tall, bearing a posture of confidence and assurance, even when the going gets tough.
